COVID-19 UPDATE: The are 88 new positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 1,848.

FITNESS:
I started the morning out right with (part of) Cardio Dance. I'm sure the instructor will be happy to be back at the YMCA for in-person classes. She is making the best of the COVID-19 situation and streaming her classes from her garage.

What are my real reasons for exercising and now running?
  1. SOCIAL! I'm enjoying working out with my cute boyfriend and seeing us happy and feeling good after our runs! I enjoy feeling a part of the groups at the YMCA and getting to know the instructors; making friendships with fellow Y members. Yoga would be good for me but still doesn't excite me that much.
  2. It helps combat anxiety and depression. My heart and mind feel so FREE when I run!
  3. Staying in shape. I feel more confident in dresses, tights, and jeans.
  4. More energized (for my energetic boyfriend)
Thank you, again, Nikhil for this article on Proper Running Form.

What I Need to Work On: I'm holding myself accountable here. I am exercising to maintain a healthier lifestyle, but I still snack on chips and sweets more than I should. Telling myself that "I'll just go for a run later" isn't helping me with goals. It makes me wonder if I am even trying to lose weight anymore? The only physical goal I have presently is wanting to have toned runner's thighs!

I don't have long-term goals for exercise, yet. I've been running and going to classes for the reasons mentioned, but GOALS are great to have, too! What I see happening is me going to YMCA classes to cross-train for runs now. (Thank you, Nikhil!) So, classes that were at one time a lot harder for me are now going to be warm-ups for running.

This photo is from the first run I ever did. Medieval Rush was fun, because it meant getting muddy. It was a hot day, too.
