Listening to: Canva Training (LinkedIn)
Today I'm grateful for warmer springy weather, coffee, and learning new things! I'm grateful Nikhil and I are friends, and I'm grateful I met a new YMCA dance buddy: Julie. She has a contagious smile, laughs easily, and loves to dance just because it's fun!
Learning Canva is exciting but also gives me mixed feelings. It's a "One Stop Design Shoppe" which is great for anyone (designer or non-designer.) In my humble opionion, if a person needs to consult a graphic design expert, Canva is not the place to go. Even though graphic design is for everyone, it's hard to realize that I've spent almost two decades studying typography and other art forms. I'm grateful I can illustrate and paint! That's something no one can take away from me. I won't get bulldozed over by a 7-year old graphic designer who creates and publishes on Canva! HaHa! Nope!
Nevertheless, I'm going to learn how to use Canva. It's important to learn all kinds of graphic design platforms and programs, and I've learned many of them. Learning anything new is exciting! To be honest, I do like being able to design and publish to various Social Media sites very quickly.
Below is my first project created in Canva! It is for a Local Foods Poster Contest sponsored by Bismarck Parks and Rec District and Bismarck Community Orchard. (This contest is appropriate -- THANKS NIKHIL! -- since I work for USDA-NRCS.) I'm unable to enter the contest, because I'm over 18 years old, but I had fun designing it!
