Mood: Relaxed
FITNESS: Body pumping tonight!
FOODIE: Eating Indian food = Comfort food. Maybe I will make my boyfriend stuffed mushrooms soon.
It's been almost one week since I've been unemployed. I have been busy just getting paper work together. I'm happy to have received financial assistance from the Y, because it will be an important part of keeping me in good spirits and good health during this job transition.
No one wants to be laid off from a job. There's the financial burden, life disruption, and blow to the ego. Yet, I'm doing fine. I've been reminded many time already how blessed I am. Nikhil has been an amazingly supportive boyfriend; helping me with unemployment paperwork and sending me links for health insurance and jobs. I got to see my nephew Timmy hit a home run yesterday. We all proceeded to have Taco John's afterwards. Tiffany, Melody, Sarah A. and some of my coworkers have been checking in and offering support.
Today I told my landlords I was laid off. They are holding onto my July 2002 check and plan to inform the new management of my lay-off. They are doing what they can do to make sure mine and others rent stays down especially during this rough time in the economy. Many folks in my building are elderly. Some have numerous medical bills. One older man is seeking part-time employment. I feel as if I have time to help others more. Sadly, I always felt so rushed, busy, and too focused on my old job. So, in a way, am I getting my life back? Maybe this is just another new normal for now. This is a great time to soul search. No, I'm not going to go take a nap and wait for God to hand me a job. I do believe HE HAS ME and will help me through this rough patch, though.
Ok, time to go back on Job Service and see what's out there.
