Mood: Grateful
Listening to: "What If's" (Featuring Lauren Alaina) - Kane Brown
The highlights of today will be lifting and Aqua Rock with my sweet Nikhil. I'm also looking forward to Enchilada Date Night with him at 5:30 pm. Love my sweet guy.
Well, I get to procrastinate my move from my apartment for a month or two longer. It's going to be $545/month which is still crazy, but a least I'm not living in a pit of a place. It's clean and decent. It's near work. It's near my sister and her family. Unfortunately, my rent went up $80. That stinks! I'm grateful my car is paid off. At least I can use that money to pay for the extra rent increase. I'm still out $80, though.
I'm GRATEFUL that the management company is continuing my lease as month-to-month. I can see why people buy condos, townhouses, duplexes, houses, etc. if they can afford it. It makes more sense to pay ourselves and build equity. People may have to pay for plumbing, appliance, electrical and other issues, but in the end...you're a home OWNER, not renter.
WORD ON THE STREET:
A reporter in my building from a local news station said she heard there are price increases going on across the city; most likely related to the COVID-19 pandemic and how it's affected the economy. (This reporter told me that she pays $550 for her place. She said her rent hadn't increased. So, I assume she moved in, and it was already $550.) One of the residents in the building, an older lady living with her elderly mother, apathetically told me that the rent increase "wasn't that bad" and decided to stay.
I still want to talk to two other ladies who are concerned about the increase. One of the ladies works at a bank and said she has two nephews who saw their apartment rent go down. I'm glad I've been visiting with people and getting "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey would've said.
CRUNCHING NUMBERS:
How do I stand financially? Can I actually afford a condo or townhouse? There are rent-to-own options. Would I qualify? Ideally, I want to wait until marriage to move in with my husband. I'm sticking to this. I've waited this long. I can wait a little longer. Are kids in the future? I don't know, yet. I think moving in after marriage is a classy thing to do. It's not for everyone, but it's for me.

- Would I need to have less taken out of my paycheck?
- Would I need a second job? Waitress on weekends?
- Could I still travel with Nikhil on a regular basis or just a few times a year?
